Creator Management & Agency Agreement Lawyer

Creator-management, talent-management, agency, and related representation agreements, including compensation, scope, term, commissionable revenue, post-term rights, and termination.

A good manager can be one of the most important people in a creator’s business.

The agreement should support that relationship without creating confusion about money, authority, term, or what happens when the relationship ends.

Rechtszaid Law advises creators, managers, and agencies in separate matters involving representation agreements and related business structures.

For Creators

Management agreements can affect revenue for years.

The important questions often include what income is commissionable, whether the manager gets paid on deals they did not source, whether commission applies to pre-existing business, what happens to product revenue, whether passive or investment revenues are included, how long the term runs, whether the agreement can renew automatically, what happens after termination, how long the sunset lasts, what authority the manager has, whether the manager can bind the creator, who controls deal communications, and what expenses can be charged back.

The goal is not to strip the manager of the ability to do the job. It is to make the commercial relationship clear.

For Managers & Agencies

Managers and agencies also need agreements that accurately describe services, compensation, scope, payment mechanics, expense treatment, exclusivity, authority, term, termination, post-term commissions, client responsibilities, IP and confidentiality, and dispute processes.

Clear agreements protect both the business and the relationship.

Manager vs. Lawyer

A manager and a lawyer have different jobs.

Managers can source opportunities, manage relationships, develop strategy, and negotiate commercial terms.

Legal counsel separately evaluates the rights, obligations, risk allocation, legal language, and long-term consequences of the agreement.

Strong teams often need both.

Common Questions

What percentage should a creator manager receive?
There is no universal number that is right for every relationship. The percentage has to be evaluated alongside the scope of services, what revenue is commissionable, how long commission lasts, and what the manager is actually expected to do.
What is a sunset clause?
A sunset clause can require the creator to continue paying commissions after the management relationship ends, often at a declining rate and often only on certain deals or revenue. The details matter.
Should a manager receive commission on deals they did not source?
Sometimes agreements are structured that way. The question is whether the scope matches the relationship the parties intend and the value the manager is providing.
Can my manager sign deals for me?
Only if the manager has authority to do so. Representation agreements should be clear about whether the manager can bind the creator or only negotiate and present opportunities.
